Romans 12:1-2

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2

Daybook - Sept. #3

Outside my window… a freshly mowed lawn, sunshine and a breeze, much cooler temps (yay!), the postal carrier (aka mailman) delivering mail.

I am thankful for… Hubby who takes care of so many things, medicine for allergies, good progress reports and testing results for the boys

I am wearing… old Levi jeans, and old VBS tshirt (I just got home from mowing at Dad’s – his place doesn’t look quite as abandoned now)

Some plans for the rest of the week… the usual – practices and more practices

I am hoping… last week I was hoping to get in a “groove” and I just knew it was going to be a normal week. Then Dad went in the hospital Monday night needing a transfusion. He’s back at the VA now. I did find more of a groove at school so now I’m hoping to get to all those things I haven’t quite made it to yet – like laminating and cutting it out.

On my mind… So much yuck going on around – for family, friends, and in the world. I want to be mindful to pray for others and keep my mind fixed on God, the source of my peace.

Hearing…. what I was hearing last week about this time – fan, windchimes, keys tapping while L. checks email. (He emailed family completely on his own this week asking for pledges for his school walk-a-thon)

I am praying that…… someone I know finds the stability and comfort that they really need.

From the kitchen... lunch: corndog nuggets, grapes & string cheese. One day this week we’re going to have Chinese Chicken Morsels & Rice – it’s already prepped and waiting to be unthawed and used. Since I’ve started working there haven’t been too many stellar meals. I have started freezing several breakfast tacos (flour tortilla, scrambled eggs, cheese, and bacon or sausage) and L. loves using them for breakfast or a snack. I love making them because I just use the leftovers from a weekend breakfast.

Around the house… laundry waiting to be done. We have several door knobs that need some TLC.

One of my favorite things… not having anywhere to be on a Sat. morning, napping, looking at magazines, family (I saw a cousin this week that I hadn’t seen in four years)

From my picture journal

L. did this in an art class

Daybook

Outside my window… I don’t want to look – it’s too sunny, which means HOT! It’s way to late in September to be this hot. Also don’t want to see neighbor’s house – I’m sad for them.

I am thankful for… Aunt coming to the rescue again and being at the Homecoming parade for M. I didn’t know how I was going to pick him up at 4:45 and pick L. up at 4:40 on the other side of town! I’m also thankful for a supportive hubby (and him suggesting a date Wednesday evening) and for all those who have prayed for me and stopped by to check on me this week.

I am wearing… old shorts and old red college tshirt (I’m cleaning-well I was).

Some plans for the rest of the week… school & practices. Hubby has a faculty meeting Friday night and the boys and I are going to the football game.

I am hoping…To find a groove!

On my mind… Dad. He’s in a wheelchair at the Veteran’s Center because he hurt his foot. I need to stop all the urgent at home today and go see him – the important.

Hearing…. J. barking, floor fan, and the wind chimes on my bulletin board.

I am praying that…… friends who are going through transitions will have peace and direction.

From the kitchen… I made one dinner last week! Chicken and wild rice. I wasn’t home last weekend to plan so I’m hoping this week will be better. I already have a plan and a list, I just need to go to the store.

Around the house… not too bad considering. The dining room now has new carpet. New around the house is that J. isn’t inside during the day (carpet issues still). She has adjusted (I think). At lest she doesn’t seem to be mad at us anymore!

One of my favorite things… chai tea latte, friends who take great pictures for me, and looking forward to weekends.

From my picture journal…

Last weekend Aunt and I did a sister's weekend in Branson. Loved it! On Sunday, we went to the Country Church at SDC. In all those years going as a kid and now with my kids, I had never been.

Our kids had a blast Labor Day weekend - being with friends and inner tubing and kneeboarding

Daybook

Outside my window… It’s Labor Day – sunshine, a little wind, our neighbors doing lawn work

I am thankful for… many wonderful moments with family and friends this weekend. We celebrated getting the cotton ball jar full (see explanation here), spent Sunday with dear friends from Texas, and hubby and I had a date on the front porch this morning before everyone woke up (I went and got Panera food because the bakery we wanted was closed for the holiday.)

I am wearing… very old flag tshirt and navy sweatpants

Some plans for the rest of the week… hopefully rescheduling a haircut, open house at L’s school, end of week trip with Aunt!

I am currently reading… still teaching materials

I am hoping… to find a routine for home and work

On my mind… all that needs to be done for school/work (wish everyone could join me for a few hours to cut out all the things I laminated). Also M & L’s accomplishments this week – M winning his student council election, L’s perfect score on the math section of state tests and a 360 on the kneeboard at the lake yesterday

Hearing…. the fountain outside the window, L just got up and I can hear him behind me checking his email

I am praying that…… our boys will continue to grow and be able to defend their faith. That they will remain faithful.

From the kitchen… chicken, potatoes & zucchini on the grill and salad

Around the house… fairly tidy thanks to hubby and the Fantasy Football draft. I do have lots of stacks and piles hidden and waiting for me to attend to. Hopefully on Fall Break.

One of my favorite things… sitting at the lake with friends – just visiting and enjoying the cool breeze
