Romans 12:1-2

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2

Counting My Blessings - Day 11

42. Others Who Help - It was much harder for me to count blessings today. Yesterday, I spent time at the Dr.'s w/L. because we thought he had broken his finger (I know they don't do much for that - long story). I have been really sick today.

It has been a blessing for me to have others help me out when I don't feel well. The other teachers on my team have supported and helped me all year and yesterday when I had to leave early for L., they each took some of my students. Besides my team, the other teachers in my hallway have all checked on me from time to time offering advice and encouragement. The people at my school are a blessing!

Then of course there's Aunt. She'd be at the top of the "others who help" list. She went out of her way yesterday to bring an Ibuprofen to L. while we waited in radiology. Within an hour she'll be here probably sewing up something for M. and listening to both of the boys chatter about their day and sports and more. Thank you God for such a wonderful sister.
Check out other blessings at Branch of Wisdom.

  1. You brought tears to my eyes! You do have the best sister, but I think she believes you are pretty special, too. You both rank right up there at the top of the list for me! I'm so glad you had people to help you out and that you let them. It's a big challenge to accept help, but it's a blessing to them as well as you. Why should we stand in the way of God calling someone to help out? Hugs to you today!

  2. Oh yes indeed, that is something to be thankful for....you never really pay much attention to that blessing until you either need it and there is no one, or...you are on the receiving end and greatly appreciate it!!!

  3. I was here today! Your post certainly tugged on my heart. I am missing one of my sisters greatly this week (she was killed in a car accident years ago) but her memory lives on through her photos and in my heart. I was blessed by your post tonight and the love for your sister.
