Romans 12:1-2

So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2

The Lincoln Memorial

If you've read my blog at Butterfly Wings, you know we visited Washington D.C. this summer. We were visiting a local museum today with family and found the original bronze from which the Lincoln Memorial was made. Who woulda thought!?

This is the quote that I didn't quite get in the photo, "Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another, but let him work diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built." Abraham Lincoln

If you're interested in other quotes by Lincoln, such as, "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.", check out Brainy Quote.

  1. Enjoying your photos. And I didn't realize you were gardening! That cantaloupe looked great. This is our first year to try gardening too... not overly successful, though we've gotten quite a few cucumbers. We're hoping our tomatoes start to yield something this fall. And our peppers... well, we got one red pepper that we left on the vine for weeks and weeks and it grew no bigger than a cherry tomato.

  2. I heard gentleman at the store say he'd been gardening 34 years and this was the worst ever. It gave me hope that maybe we'd do better next near - we've learned what we need to do differently next time too! Did you eat the pepper?

I told the boys' grandmother about LO telling me the duck joke and she roared with laughter!
